Steps to Debugging

From my conversation with Richard Felix

  1. Stop fucking shit up.

After I showed my friend Bryan Culver this, he appeneded it:

  1. Do it right the first time.

From Bryan again. If it isn’t your code:

  1. Go beat the developer.

I showed this to my friend Bonnie Lewis, who had this to say.

  1. Look for errors.
  2. Fix every error you find except for the one that’s actually giving the message.
  3. Give up and call it a ‘feature.’

I think all of this is equally great advice.
